It's Valentines Day!

I can't believe the new year has been here and gone! And to top it all off, Valentines Day is next week! Sheesk! Where does the time go? Anyway, don't forget that Saturday is the 11th Annual Bull Bash right here in the Heart City of Valentine. The boys will be penned up right down main street for everyone to look at! They expect a 100+ Bulls and several commercial displays. There is a wine tasting, gun show, art show, and to end the evening will be the Bar J Wranglers!

We will be open and ready for all your shopping needs on Saturday! We have some great new Cinch Shirts, Rocky Boots, Miss Me Jeans, Silver Jeans, Twisted X Shoes, and Under Armour! It is supposed to be around 30 degrees so we will have some warm clothes from Carhartt, Columbia, and Walls for you to wear! Or just stop in and see all the great savings we have going on in the store!

Then on Sunday is the 68th Annual Coronation. Young's will be well represented! We have 3 employees that have kids nominated for royalty and one employee that has 2 kids in the production! Good Luck to Marki, Tylar, Paul, Maddie, and Jade!

Valentines Day is a big day in Valentine. There is no place to get married like Valentines Day in Valentine NE! There will be a few weddings on Tues. The post office has been busy sending Valentines out that have a Valentine stamp. Our post office receives hundreds of pieces of mail that need to be sent out with a Valentine post mark on it! The come from all the states! How cool is that? There will be heart day specials all over town!

I know it has been a really long time since we blogged anything! Sorry! It has been really busy here at Discountwesternwear.com! Santa has been doing his shopping online at DWW and his list has been really long...which means someone has been very good this year! Was it you?

Speaking of Santa, he has been here the last 2 Saturdays and is planning to be here this afternoon. Stop in if you are in town and tell him what you want for Christmas. He has just a few more days to get your list put together. We will have the camera out today taking pictures. Hopefully I will get them put on our Facebook page. We will also be having old fashion wagon rides this afternoon. Stop down and see how much fun we are having at Young's Western Wear!

We still have lots of boots, shirts, and jeans to fill those packages out. We have stuff for everyone even some of the family that live out in the barn. If you are shopping on line, you need to get your orders in soon. The only way we can guarantee that you have it by Christmas is by Express Shipping.

Starting Monday, we will be open until 8pm until Friday. Saturday we will be open 9-4, closed Sunday and will open at 12:00 on Monday. Have a great week!

I was thinking about my shopping list for Christmas and then I looked at the Calendar and discovered that there is ONLY 45 days til Christmas!!! I think I had better get started on my list. So, today I will be heading out on the floor and picking a few things up. How about you? Ready to do some serious shopping? We have FREE Freight on orders over $200. Otherwise we have a flat rate shipping of $11.95 for continental USA no matter how many items you order.

The spooks have come out at discountwesternwear.com! Ghost and Goblins have moved lots of new stuff in the store. There are new Cinch and Cruel Girl shirts and hoodies. Trick or Treat! Don't forget that on Monday (Halloween) afterschool with be the costume parade and trick or treating at the downtown merchants. Of course that means we will have treats right here at Young's Western Wear. Parent, you can put your costumes on too!

A couple weeks ago, Kenny went to the WPRA World Finals in Lincoln NE. There he finally met 3 time NFR Qualifier Tana Poppino for the 1st time in person. The 2 of them have been chatting for at least 2 years on Spurradio.com on the Talkin' with Tana Show. We have seen her drive by the store a couple of times but she is always flying thru Valentine headed to another rodeo and of course she is behind schedule. Here are a couple of pics of Tana.

Welcome To Old West Days

This weekend is the 20th Annual Old West Days and Cowboy Poetry. Activities kick off on Thursday evening with the BBQ and entertainment down town with the melodrama at 7:30 at the high school. There will be poetry sessions all day Friday and Saturday. Some are free and evening performances are $10.00. Tickets can be bought right here at Young's Western Wear. We look forward to seeing everyone this weekend.

This weekend is also Pumpkin Patch Craft and Gift show out at the Cherry County Fair Grounds. In town, stop and see the neat stuff.

We also want to give our Hats Off to the Valentine Girls Golf Team. They place 1st at Districts and are headed to the Girls State Golf Tournament. Congrats Lady Badgers!

We are happy to announce the arrival of Tin Haul at discountwesternwear.com. We will be carrying a full line of Tin Haul Boots, Shirts, Jeans, and Accessories. The boots are hand made in Mexico with all leather uppers and rubber soles. Not only do the boots have some off the wall designs on the boot, but the soles of the boots are like none other. They call it the Obvious Sole. Ok, it's a clear sole system that shows off your kickin graphics on the bottom of your boot...Um, it's Obvious. Otherwise, they would put a long explanation and call it something like "complicated".

Fall or Football?

I know that most of those who went to school know that there are 4 season in the year...Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. However I think that one of the seasons needs to be renamed. It should go Spring, Summer, Football, and Winter. I was listening to the radio this morning on my way to work and they were talking about the football season opening up this week. They were discussing that football in the number 1 most anticipated sport opening in the US. Go figure. I do know that when the Huskers are playing, the ladies of Valentine go shopping. The men say "GO SHOPPING!", and the ladies do. I am not sure if the guys know we have a tv in the store and the ladies can shop and watch the game. We always have the radio turned up listening to the play by play. Don't get me wrong, I am one of the footballs biggest fans!

Labor Day weekend is coming right fast. I guess that means the end of summer. It also means Krogman's Horse Sale is here. There will lots of people in the store and a great time to meet us with old friends. Next weekend is the Weber Horse sale. We will willing and able to dress everyone in the western apparel they will want and need to attend both sales.

We are starting to get some fall and winter apparel and footwear in the store. Lately we received some Circle S Black Corduroy Sports Coats, the Carter Jeans from Cinch, and a bunch of Tony Lama San Sabo and Justin Bent Rail Boots.

Back in the day, my mom told me I had to put my white shoes and purse away when Labor Day went by. She said I had to carry brown or black purses and wear my tennis shoes and enclosed dark colored shoes from Labor Day until Memorial Day. I am not sure if those rules still apply to the fashion experts or not. I carry a red one or orange one now so I am not sure if I fall into any of those old rules. So if you need a dark colored purse, stop in and see our selection. If you don't want to follow the fashion rules, we have a bunch of colored purse also. I do know that it is still to hot to put my Cruel Girl Jeans and Ariat Boots on everyday. However, I will say that I might be getting tired of my summer wardrobe. I guess I need to go out on the floor and find some new jeans and boots. There is no better place to shop the Young's Western Wear whether you need a new Saturday night outfit or a whole new closet full of clothes and footwear.

Just When You Think...

The Cherry County Fair is now over. Congrats to all the 4-Hers, those entering in the open show, and the rodeo contestants! Everyone did a great job! Kudos out to the Cherry County Ag Society and the 4-H council! We look forward to everyone coming back!

It was an amazing weekend here at Young's Western Wear. We had customers from all over the country! It was nice to see old friends and customers along with getting some new! Hope everyone had a great time shopping!

Just when you think things are going to slow down, they pick up a little more. The next few weeks are filled up with horse sales. Kicking it off this weekend is the Fulton Performance Horse Sale. Brian and Lisa are bringing some of the best of the best to town and are going to sell them. If your coming to Valentine for the sale, stop in at Young's Western Wear and say hi! The following weekend is the Krogman Horse sale that is always a hit. Then, Sept 11 is the Weber Horse sale.

Also, this weekend is the Rosebud Fair and Rodeo. That is something you don't want to miss. The food is amazing and the rodeo is super. If you have never been to a Pow Wow, then this is a great time to see some of the best.

Cherry County Fair and Rodeo

So this is a REALLY BIG week in Valentine NE. We have the 125th Annual Cherry County Fair and Rodeo going on. There will be activities all over town. Last week the horse show was held as was the Cherry County Queen Contest. Congrats going out to 2011 Miss Cherry County Rodeo Queen Kaitlyn Reece and Runner up Lexi Wescott! Tonight's activities will be the parade. Look out for the Girls in The Back Float! That will be us! The bands will be playing, the horses will be prancing, and the cars will be shined up. Kid's, don't forget your buckets or sacks cuz there will be stuff for you! Tomorrow, everybody will be coming to town to enter their stuff in the fair. You can see pickles, cakes, tomatoes, chickens, pigs, and some of the most incredible hand made quilts you will ever see! There are activities for everyone, including a cook off, putt putt golf, water melon feed, mutton buston, and so much more! Thursday will be the open show judging and Friday will be the 4-H and FFA judging. Saturday will be the beef show and kids ranch rodeo along one of the most amazing thing to see is the team fitting contest. Rodeo performance will be Friday and Saturday night at 7:30pm. SpurRadio.com will be announcing the rodeo LIVE! Sunday will be the Ranch Rodeo and Tractor Pull. So join us in Valentine for a great time!

Also, this week school started! All the kids are headed back to that dreadful place and parents are having a party in the streets! Be careful driving thru town while we all get use to the kids walking too and from school. And of course good luck to all the area athletes as they get started on their seasons!

Tomorrow is the Valentine Junior Rodeo. We will be open tonight until 8pm and 12-4 tomorrow for your shopping convenience. Good Luck to all the rodeo contestants tomorrow!

August 6 will be Crazy Dazes in Valentine NE. Get yourself ready! Pack up the kids, the hubby, the cooler, and maybe the dogs and get to town. Main Street will have bargains you can't believe! All in time for those 3 words parent love to hear and kids detest the most "BACK TO SCHOOL"! We would of liked for her to stop by a few minutes, but she was running about 40 minutes late for her next rodeo performance in Burwell NE. Maybe next time Tana!

The Cherry County Fair and Rodeo are coming up in a couple of weeks. We have had a couple of the queen contestants in getting stuff for the competition. We will get into more details when it is closer!

We have lots going on in the store this week. We have been cleaning up the summer stuff by putting it on sale. We have added to the sale tables that are out side, so if you're coming to Valentine, stop and check out the clearance tables.

We have had our Justin Boot rep, the Wyoming Traders rep, and our book rep in the store so far this week. We are expecting the Tony Lama Nocona rep, the Walls Outerwear rep, and the Roper rep this week yet. This means we have been ordering new boots and stuff!!

The big event of the week is The Cork Young 5th Annual Golf Scramble on Sunday. All proceeds will be going to the new youth football program for equipment. It is a great day and both golf and youth activities were very important to Cork Young. It will be a great time!

We have been uploading new videos to discountwesternwear.com. They are about the products like cowboy hats, western boots, and jeans. Check them out. They are looking great. You should be seeing some changes to the looks of discountwesternwear.com. They are improvements for checking out. Should be easier to use.
